It all started with The David Trophy — a group of Davids gathering for a day of golf, laughs, and giving back. What began as a friendly idea to honour a mate has grown into something much bigger.
Now, we’re inviting you to do the same.
Whether you’re a John, a Michael, a Brian, or any other proud namesake, it’s your turn to grab the clubs, round up your fellow names, and start your own “Trophy”.
Gather your name-group, tee off for charity, and join the legacy of The David Trophy.
Because golf, friendship, and good causes go perfectly together.
The David Trophy has raised funds for NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia, in memory of our mate David Lockwood — and we’d love to see more groups doing the same.
Starting your own “Name Trophy” keeps the fun going, expands the impact, and gives your group a reason to meet, compete, and contribute.
“It’s not about winning — it’s about doing something good together.”
Starting your own event is easier than sinking a two-metre putt (well, almost):
Gather your group
Bring together people who share your name — first or middle, we won’t judge.
Plan your round, choose a date, and pick a course that fits your crew.
Choose your cause
Keep it simple and aligned — support NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia like we do, or another local charity that means something to you.
Create your trophy
Go classic or creative — design a nameplate trophy, make up your own rules, and choose a format that keeps things friendly.
Invite a rivalry
When your day’s done, send us your results.
The Top 4 players from your event could be invited to compete against other name-groups — imagine a final round between The Johns, The Brians, and The Davids! 🏆
Share the good vibes
Send photos, stories, and your donation tally — we’ll feature highlights on our site and social pages to inspire the next wave of name-groups.
We’d love to help you get your event started. Contact David Spears via david@davidtrophy.org to get you pointed in the right direction.
Your name. Your group. Your trophy.
It’s time to start your own tradition — and make a difference while you’re at it.
