The David Trophy began as a lighthearted idea among friends — a way to honour our mate, David Lockwood. He loved golf, community, and a good laugh. What started as a simple round among friends quickly grew into something much more meaningful: an annual celebration where Davids (and friends of Davids) come together to play golf, share stories, and give back in his memory.
David was a passionate Manly Golf Club member who loved the spirit of the David Trophy and was excited to play in its inaugural event. Sadly, he was diagnosed with neuroendocrine carcinoma in January 2018 and passed away just a few months later.
David was a young man with a young family — warm, generous, and loved by all who knew and played with him. The David Trophy is our way of keeping his memory alive: a day filled with camaraderie, laughter, and purpose, just as he would have wanted.
Each year, the David Trophy proudly supports NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia — a remarkable organisation dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by neuroendocrine cancers.
Formerly known as The Unicorn Foundation, this charity provides vital patient support, advocacy, and research funding to bring hope and better outcomes to individuals and families navigating this complex disease.
A portion of every entry fee goes directly to NeuroEndocrine Cancer Australia, helping to fund essential patient programs and ongoing research efforts. Together, we’re not just celebrating competition — we’re making a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
